Why Hungary is unusual for citizens of Armenia
Hungary's guest worker residence permit is not open to citizens of every country. Annex 1 of Government Decree 450/2024 lists the eligible countries, and that list is very short: Georgia, Armenia and the Philippines. Since 1 January 2025, citizens of Armenia may work in Hungary both on a residence permit for the purpose of employment and on a guest worker residence permit.
In practice this means a Hungarian employer who cannot recruit through this programme from most of the world can recruit from Armenia. That is a rare position: Armenian candidates usually compete against much larger labour-sending markets.
The advantage is not permanent. The eligible-country list is set by the Hungarian government and can be changed. The annual cap on these permits was set at 35,000 for 2025, down from 65,000 in 2024. Requirements may change; check the official sources.
What conditions apply
Hungary's National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing lists the core conditions for a residence permit for the purpose of employment: a valid travel document, proof of the employment relationship (a preliminary agreement or a contract), accommodation in Hungary (a lease, employer-provided housing or ownership), comprehensive health insurance, and sufficient resources to cover subsistence, accommodation and return travel.
The permit's maximum validity is three years from initial issue, with a possible extension of one further year. The application is normally made from outside Hungary through a diplomatic mission. Extension applications can only be made from inside Hungary, through the Enter Hungary platform.
The Hungarian authorities state a standard processing time of 21 days and a final decision within 70 days. These are official time limits, not guarantees; the real duration depends on the case.

Questions about this country
Does being Armenian give me an advantage in Hungary?
Legally yes, but only in the sense of eligibility. Armenia is on the short list of countries eligible for Hungary's guest worker programme, which means you can apply where citizens of many other countries cannot. It does not mean you will get a job: an employer must still select you, and the Hungarian authorities must still approve the permit.
Can you find me a job in Hungary now?

When a verified partner is in place, vacancies will be published on this website with full terms, like every other vacancy. Until then, anyone offering you a Hungarian job in our name is not representing us.
How long can I stay on a guest worker permit?
A maximum of three years from initial issue, with a possible one-year extension. This is a temporary work route, not a route to permanent residence, and that distinction matters if your goal is to settle long term. The rules are set by Hungary and can be changed.
